Lip Augmentation/Enhancement
Lip augmentation or enhancement is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips. Lip enhancement is created by injecting or inserting a substance into the lips. Fillers are injected into the lips to achieve the desired effect. Lip enhancement with fillers is usually not permanent but can last for up to twelve months. For a more permanent filling, a soft silicone strip can be inserted into the lips. Another technique is fat transfer, where fat is removed from one area such as the tummy or bottom and then injected into the lips.
Lip Augmentation/Enhancement with fillers.
The treatment involves injecting Juvederm into the skin to restore volume. The procedure takes around thirty minutes. There may be some swelling but this is usually minimal and will soon subside. You will be able to resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure. Results can last up to a year.
Lip Augmentation/Enhancement with implants.
The implants that we use are Permalip.
PermaLip implants are made of soft, solid silicone that will not rupture or leak or grow into the surrounding tissue. It has a smooth surface which reduces the development of excess scar tissue. The implant is shaped to suit the lips natural shape.
The procedure involves numbing the mouth and lips with local anaesthetic. Two small incisions are made in the corners of the mouth. The implant is then inserted and centred. The process is repeated for the other lip then the incisions are closed using dissolvable stitches. The procedure takes approximately twenty minutes.
Lip Augmentation enhancement with fat transfer.
Lip augmentation with fat transfer is usually performed under local anaesthetic. Using Liposuction fat is removed from either the abdomen or thighs. The fat is then injected into the lips. The injections leave only tiny prick marks. You should take it easy after the procedure but can resume normal activities the following day. Exercise should be avoided for one to two weeks.
You can expect swelling and bruising after any of these procedures. This may last between one and three weeks depending on which treatment you have. Pain and discomfort is minimal and there is only a short recovery time.
