Thigh Reduction and Lift (Thighplasty)
There are number of causes of excessive skin and fat on the thigh area, such as substantial weight loss and growing older. A thigh lift removes the excess skin and fat from the upper and inner thigh which firms and tightens the area.
The procedure is usually done under general anaesthetic either as a day case or with an overnight stay. An incision is made from the groin, across the inside of the thigh to under the buttock. After the surgery is completed the incision will be covered with a dressing. Pain is usually minimal but regular painkillers will make your recovery more comfortable. You will be prescribed a course of antibiotics but it is very important that you keep the wound clean by using an antiseptic wash whenever you use the toilet to help to prevent infection. After the area has been washed it should be covered by a dressing held in place by a compression garment. You should avoid exercise for a month. Patients are usually able to return to work after seven to ten days.
What is thigh lift?
Thigh lift involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper and inner thigh area to give a lift and firmness to the thigh. As a result of ageing, the thigh starts to sag necessitating a thigh lift procedure, which will help to tighten the skin firmly holding fat underneath the skin to give a smooth and tight appearance.
Who & why should consider thigh lift?
The thigh lift procedure is ideally suited for individuals who experience sagging problems as a result of ageing. Additionally the thigh lift procedure is suitable for individuals who may have undergone a weight loss program. After a weight loss program, the skin is bound to appear loose and sagging as a result of the loss of volume of fat beneath the skin.
